Come celebrate Earth Day in Saco! Earth Day is an annual event typically celebrated in April all over the world! The Saco Parks & Recreation Department is going to celebrate for almost two weeks with different awareness-related activities, events, and more! Our main event will be on Saturday, April 27th. It is now a more important time than ever to focus on our green space, clean energy, eliminating waste, and becoming an Eco-friendly community. Please check out what is listed below to get involved!

Earth Day Celebration
  • Come volunteer in the Saco Community and celebrate Earth Day! We are looking for volunteers who would like to help us clean up and prepare the local parks for spring & summer! Duties will include: trash pick-up, weeding, raking etc.
  • We will be looking for volunteers to help us at Pepperell Park, Jubilee Park, The River Walk Trail, Cascade Falls, and Haley Park. The event will start with the parks clean-up and then we invite everyone (AND THE PUBLIC) to attend our Earth Day Celebration at the Saco Community Center. Here we will have local vendors to visit with, snacks to purchase, face painting, music and MORE!
  • Every volunteer who registers by April 5th, 2019 will receive an organic cotton t-shirt with the NEW Saco Earth Day Logo that is featured above! Volunteers must show up for the clean-up event to receive their shirt. All volunteers will also receive a food voucher, and will be entered into a raffle to win prizes such as local gift cards, Amtrak tickets, and more!

  • Where: Saco Community Center & our surrounding, local parks!
  • Time:
  • 9:00AM-12:00PM Parks Clean Up- volunteers will get to choose their choice of park
  • 12:00PM-1:00PM- Volunteer Group Photo @ Cascade Falls
  • 1:00PM-3:00PM- Vendor Fair with Food, Music and more!
  • Fee: FREE but must pre-register!
  • Ages: Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult!
  • Park Options:
  • Everyone will receive a question during the registration process that will ask you which park you want to help out at! Each park will have a limited number of volunteers. We will try to give everyone their first choice but we will need to make it even. Assignments will be given the week leading up to the event!
  • Below are your choices.
  • Jubilee Park: This park is Water Street and overlooks the Saco River. It's the park with the covered bridge!
  • Pepperell Park: This park is located behind Fairfield School and is nice and quiet, and shaded!
  • River Walk Trail:The trail on Front St. near the river and boat launch.
  • Cascade Falls Trail: Located off of Route 1, on Cascade Rd.
  • Haley Park: Located off of King Street, near the Community Garden.
