Pilates is a relaxing meditative exercise that stretches, strengthens and tones without strain improving body alignment and ease of movement. Pilates can be practiced at chair or mat level. Classes are open to all ability levels. Please bring a mat and wear flexible, comfortable clothing. There are a few mats available to borrow.
Katy Hersey, an occupational therapist, has been practicing for 17 years and has seen the benefits of Pilates for all ages and ability levels. Katy is trained in Method Pilates and has taken additional course work for more complex population using the APPI method also known as Modified Pilates.
Drop-In Program Info
At Saco Parks and Rec, we offer a range of drop-in style exercise classes for participants of all abilities. No pre-registration is required and you do not have to be a member of the Seniority Program. Members enjoy a $1.00 discount on each class. Each program is offered throughout the year with no start/end dates. Please feel free to drop-in when you can. Cash or check payment is due at the time of the class. All classes are held in the Program Bay off the gym at the Community Center on Franklin Street. Please visit each class's page for more detailed information and rates.
